Full-time Assistant Teacher

Doane Academy seeks a full time assistant teacher for its Primary 3-6 year old program, beginning in September, 2017. Doane Academy's Primary Program is a mixed age, Montessori-based class of approximately 22 children. This program began in 2015 with the opening of our new classroom building.

Responsibilities: The assistant teacher’s responsibilities will include support of the lead teacher, planning and implementing Montessori curricula, and planning and implementing daily program activities.

Qualifications: Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has experience working in Montessori classrooms and/or is currently enrolled in Montessori certification program. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Full-time Third Grade Teacher

Doane Academy seeks a full-time third grade teacher beginning in the 2017-2018 academic year. Applicants must have at least three years of experience as a lead teacher working with elementary school aged children, preferably in an independent school setting. Strong applicants will have experience implementing the Reading and Writing Workshop model and Singapore Math, and a demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive school in a collegial environment. Excellent communication skills, creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a love for working with young children are all important characteristics of strong candidates.
