Campus Life Introduction

Famous author and progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking", Dr. Norman Vincent Peale once said "The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have".

In a nutshell, this statement explains Campus Life at Doane Academy. Everyone, be they students, faculty, staff, parents, or trustees, understands that they are a part of something bigger than themselves at Doane Academy. Each child is known, and their contributions to our school are valued and appreciated. They are given the opportunity to try many different avenues of extra-curricular activities.  Students find their passions here, whether it is student government, community service or student-produced publications.  At Doane Academy, the school culture of being involved is contagious, and as Dr. Peale put it; you simply "lose yourself and have energy to do more".

With the multitude and variety of activities on campus, it is easy for our students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends to become involved.  Many if not most Upper School students participate in every activity their schedule allows. Some of the activities Upper School and Lower School students participate in together are weekly "School Family", All School Meeting, and Chapel Services. Within this fellowship, regardless of their own age, students can enjoy, learn from, and depend on each other.

Everyone shares in Doane Academy's time-honored traditions that breathe excitement into the school year and shape memories that will live forever within their hearts and minds. The Doane school community tackles Service Projects such as Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity as a team, with students, faculty and staff working side by side. Through student clubs and organizations, students have the opportunity to participate and lead in an array of organizations that foster their interests, talents, and reflect the student body and the mission of the school.
