The Headmaster's Scholarship Program
This program is designed to attract students who, in all aspects of life, demonstrate the qualities that define a Headmaster’s Scholar – character, integrity and leadership. Students are selected based on a demonstrated capacity for leadership, high academic achievement, and exceptional personal character.
The Headmaster’s Scholarship, based solely on merit, can range from $1,000 and $12,000. Therefore, candidates who are interested in the Headmaster’s Scholarship Program must meet certain criteria in order to be considered. Academic achievement, athletics, extracurricular participation, and community service are all examples of ways in which one exemplifies the qualities required for consideration.
The awards will be renewed on an annual basis for each year that the student is enrolled at Doane Academy, contingent upon the student remaining in good standing based on criteria determined by Doane Academy.
To be considered for a Headmaster Merit Scholarship, a student must be an applicant for admission to Doane Academy for ninth or tenth grade, and must complete all steps of the application process, or be a current student in eighth grade and completed the application process for the Headmaster Scholarship program.
The Admission Committee will choose finalists from the Doane Academy applicant pool and current eighth graders based on their academic achievement, standardized test scores, strength of recommendations, and extracurricular involvement. Recipients will display academic excellence and a potential for a unique, personal impact on the school and the world beyond.
Finalists will complete an interview with the Headmaster during an academic day during the winter months. Following these interviews, the Admission Office will notify recipients of the Headmaster Merit Scholarship awards. Newly admitted students will receive their notification with their welcome package to the school.
- Deadline for eligible students to apply for the merit scholarship is January 1st
