The Head of School Scholarship Program
This program is designed to attract students who, in all aspects of life, demonstrate the qualities that define a Head of School Scholar – character, integrity and leadership. Students are selected based on a demonstrated capacity for leadership, high academic achievement, and exceptional personal character.
The Head of School's Scholarship, based solely on merit, can range from $1,000 and $12,000. Therefore, candidates who are interested in the Head of School Scholarship Program must meet certain criteria in order to be considered. Academic achievement, athletics, extracurricular participation, and community service are all examples of ways in which one exemplifies the qualities required for consideration.
The awards will be renewed on an annual basis for each year that the student is enrolled at Doane Academy, contingent upon the student remaining in good standing based on criteria determined by Doane Academy.
To be considered for a Head of School Merit Scholarship, a student must be an applicant for admission to Doane Academy for ninth or tenth grade, and must complete all steps of the application process, or be a current student in eighth grade and completed the application process for the Head of School Scholarship program.
The Admission Committee will choose finalists from the Doane Academy applicant pool and current eighth graders based on their academic achievement, standardized test scores, strength of recommendations, and extracurricular involvement. Recipients will display academic excellence and a potential for a unique, personal impact on the school and the world beyond.
Finalists will complete an interview with the Head of School during an academic day during the winter months. Following these interviews, the Admission Office will notify recipients of the Head of School Merit Scholarship awards. Newly admitted students will receive their notification with their welcome package to the school.
- Deadline for eligible students to apply for the merit scholarship is January 15
